چکیده
BackgroundHypersensitivity reactions (HSRs) to nondextran iron products (NDIPs) are rare, but can manifest with severe signs and symptoms. Predisposing risk factors not well understood.ObjectiveTo characterize patients HSRs NDIPs, a special focus on possible factors.MethodsWe analyzed clinical characteristics of NDIPs referred our allergy division between 2007 2019 compared tolerant controls, including the type eliciting NDIP, severity HSR, atopy status, history allergies urticaria, laboratory skin test results, outcome reexposure NDIPs.ResultsWe evaluated data 59 21 controls. Sixteen 4 controls received NDIP sucrose 41 15 ferric carboxymaltose. In 2 in culprit was known. Twenty-seven (46%) experienced an anaphylactic reaction grade I, (25%) II reaction, 17 (29%) III according Ring Messmer. On analyzing history, we found that 22 (37%) 3 (14%) reported previous other medications. Interestingly, more than half (n = 35 [59%]) only 7 (33%) episode any urticaria their history. Most [79%]) tolerated using low-reactogenic administration protocol.ConclusionsA drug hypersensitivity represent potential for NDIPs. basis findings, propose algorithm practical management receiving aiming prevent HSRs. Hypersensitivity reactions to intravenous iron: guidance for risk minimization and management.
Intravenous iron is widely used for the treatment of iron deficiency anemia when oral iron is inappropriate, ineffective or poorly tolerated. Acute hypersensitivity reactions during iron infusions are very rare but can be life-threatening. This paper reviews their frequency, pathogenesis and risk factors, and provides recommendations about their management and prevention. Complement activation-...

In the May issue of Science, Du et al. described the novel and exciting finding that the transmembrane serine protease 6 (TMPRSS6) senses iron deficiency [1]. In their study, Du et al. described a mutant mouse, which is characterized by progressive loss of body hair and microcytic anaemia. The phenotype was found to result from reduced intestinal iron absorption caused by high levels of hepcidi...

Oxaliplatin (Eloxatin) is a novel platinum compound that has activity in a wide variety of tumors. Several hypersensitivity reactions distinct from laryngopharyngeal dysesthesia have been described. We retrospectively analyzed 169 consecutive patients who received oxaliplatin for esophageal or colorectal cancer between 1/1/00 and 7/31/02 and reviewed any significant adverse reactions labeled as...

Titanium is notable for its biocompatibility and is used as biologic implant material across surgical specialties, especially in metal-sensitive individuals. However, rare cases of titanium hypersensitivity reactions are reported in the literature. This article discusses the properties and biological behavior of titanium and provides a thorough review of the literature on reported cases, diagno...
